Regulations on points deduction for not wearing seat belts

Due to the introduction of the new traffic law, the regulations on whether to fasten seat belts have become very strict. What are the deduction standards for seat belts? Below, everyone provides some knowledge points to help everyone drive with peace of mind.

New Traffic Law Requirements for Seat Belts:

（1） Driving without wearing a seat belt not only incurs fines but also points deduction

1. When driving on urban expressways, if the driver fails to use the seat belt according to regulations, a fine of 50 yuan and 2 points will be deducted;

2. When driving on roads other than highways or urban expressways, if the driver fails to use the seat belt according to regulations, a fine of 50 yuan will be imposed without deduction of points;

3. (Urban expressway refers to a road in which there is a central dividing strip in an urban road, with more than four lanes, all or part of which use interchanges and controlled entry and exit, for vehicles to travel at higher speeds.); If a passenger fails to use a seat belt as required while driving a motor vehicle, a fine of 5 yuan shall be imposed;

4. If the driver fails to use the seat belt as required while driving on the highway, a fine of 50 yuan and 2 points will be deducted;

5. If the passenger fails to fasten the seat belt according to regulations when the vehicle passes through the highway, a fine of 20 yuan will be imposed;

6. Those who drive a motor vehicle on a section of the urban area with a speed limit of less than 50 kilometers and fail to use their seat belts as required, and immediately correct the situation after being pointed out, will be given a verbal warning;

7. According to Order 123, if a driver fails to fasten his/her seat belt as required while driving a motor vehicle on highways or urban expressways, he/she will be scored 2 points at a time.

（2） Penalty for passenger not wearing seat belt

According to the Road Traffic Safety Law, when a motor vehicle is driving, the co pilot and passengers should also use a seat belt. The requirement for the co pilot to wear a seat belt was already clearly stated in old traffic regulations. Anyone who does not wear a seat belt on the passenger seat can be fined 20 yuan by the traffic police on duty.

Article 51: When a motor vehicle is driving, the driver and passengers shall use safety belts in accordance with regulations, and the motorcycle driver and passengers shall wear safety helmets in accordance with regulations.

Article 90: Motor vehicle drivers who violate road traffic safety laws and regulations regarding road traffic regulations shall be given a warning or fined not less than 20 yuan but not more than 200 yuan. If there are other provisions in this Law, punishment shall be imposed in accordance with the provisions.
